Free From Formulas

                                                               Free From Formulas.

For today's post I thought I would share some brands that have reduced the chemical content of their nail polish formulas. I have been lucky enough to receive all these polishes in various beauty boxes and have been introduced to some great brands as a result. All the swatches shown have 2 coats of colour.

The first is Poolside Party by Headline Colors and is priced at £9, and came in a Love Me Beauty Box. This is such a pretty colour and is formulated without the big 3 (Toluene, DBP, and Formaldehyde). I find that it takes a little longer to dry, but otherwise I have no complaints with it at all. Nail polish never stays chip free for long on me, and I don't feel that it chips any faster than other polishes. You can buy headline colors here

This mini bottle of Zoya nail polish came in a LoveLula beauty box. Unfortunately it does not have a shade name and I can't seem to find the colour online. I can only assume this was a special addition. Zoya formulas are free of the big 5 (toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and DBP (dibutyl phthalate). Zoya report that they were the first to remove these from their formulas.
Of the 3 formulas shown, I find this to be the one that takes the longest to dry, but I can live with that. They have a big range of beautiful shades and there are quite a few colours on my wish list. A full size polish sells for £10.50 and can be found here

The final nail polish is my most recent addition. This is by a French brand called Avril nail polish in chocolat chaud and came in October's SoukSouk box. This has a 7 free formula and does not contain parabens, formaldehyde, phthalates, toluene (except Parme), xylene, camphor (except Sable Doré Nacré) or rosin.

I have to say this is the formula I am most impressed with, and is the quickest to dry. You could probably get away with just one coat of this, as I find it applies easily and evenly. It is the most reasonably priced of the 3, proving that natural products don't always have to be more expensive. The only draw back is that it doesn't seem to be readily available in the UK. I have found it here for 2.80 euros which I think is about £3.99 (apologies if my calculations are wrong)

If you are visiting France it may be worth looking up this brand and maybe investigating the other make up they produce, as it all seems very affordable generally. I think after Christmas I may just have to investigate them further myself.

  1. I haven't had any personal encounter with natural nail products yet. I am quite curious about them, but it doesn't seem like the hype has arrived here yet. Maybe next year the local industry will catch up. I'll definitely look forward to that, and keep my eye out for these products. Thanks for sharing! :D

  2. I am not very patient when it comes to my nails. I used to keep them very neat and tidy, with new nail polish every Sunday and I always fixed any chips that occurred during the week. Right now I need an update. Do you know which brand of nail polishes lasts the longest?

  3. Hi Dawn. I hope you find some soon.
Hi Mingaile, I found the Avril to last longest, but my nails are so weak every nail polish I have ever tried never lasts more than 2 days on me.
